Chinese heritage and iconic components of the country's rich traditions and culture inspired the new SS19 collection.

References span the colourful dragon costumes worn for Chinese New Year, the textural colors of Asian ceramics, the blue jackets worn by workers in the bothfactory and the stitched soles of traditional cloth slippers.

Red, black and orange or grey, blue and green combined with accents of mirrored gold leather and reflective fabric details adorn the new GAO Runner and Classic Runner sneakers, reinterpreting the flamboyant dragon costumes used in local parades.

The motifs found on ceramic food containers as well as their colored elastic seals give way to new experimental processes with vulcanized rubber. Effects include a speckled pattern on a grainy grey texture or a melting-stripes motif obtained by pressing and baking slices of color rubber. These handmade techniques make each shoe unique.

Artisanal stitches that mimic the soles of traditional Chinese slippers adorn vulcanised rubber patches or embellish the surfaces of plain white or grey classic low top sneakers.

Simpler in aspect but no less evocative are the cotton canvas and rubber Classic models revisited in a bright shade of workwear blue.

Completing the Spring-Summer collection is a new line of slides using a variety of vulcanized rubber techniques, including coated mesh uppers and chunky soles with foxing tape that add an industrial tone.
